A failed attempt to dial Earth through a wormhole affected by a star creates two versions of Destiny and divides one timeline from another. This episode examines the crisis of “Twin Destinies,” in which an alternate crew reaches the ship with knowledge of events the present crew has not yet experienced. The duplicate vessel becomes both warning and resource, while competing plans raise questions about which crew has the right to continue the mission. The time-displaced survivors who attempted evacuation did not reach modern Earth. They emerged roughly two thousand years in the past on another world, carrying only the people, knowledge, and equipment available aboard Destiny. Their descendants eventually built the civilization associated with Novus. The incident demonstrates that Stargate travel, stellar gravity, and Destiny’s unusual position can alter history on a civilizational scale. One unsuccessful route home created a second human society whose existence would later confront the original crew with the long-term consequences of their own choices.
