ABOUT DR JASON EDWARDS
Dr Jason Edwards is a retired U.S. Army Armor officer, combat veteran, military historian, author, educator, and podcaster.
He served for more than twenty-two years in the United States Army, beginning his career as an enlisted soldier and later serving as a commissioned Armor and Cavalry officer. His military career included two deployments to Iraq, one deployment to Afghanistan, and the award of the Bronze Star.
That experience shapes the questions behind The Imagined Battlefield: how organizations behave under pressure, how command relationships help or hinder action, how logistics limits ambition, how technology changes doctrine, and how battlefield decisions become political and human consequences. It provides a perspective—not a claim that every fictional military must behave exactly like a modern army.
Beyond military history, Dr Edwards has written extensively on cybersecurity, leadership, risk, and technology; created books, magazines, newsletters, podcasts, and educational programs; and taught more than two thousand students. The Imagined Battlefield brings those experiences together with a lifelong love of science fiction, fantasy, military fiction, and complex invented worlds.
