The Attero Device: Victory That Could Destroy the Gate Network

The Attero device was built by the Ancient scientist Janus to exploit a fundamental weakness in Wraith hyperdrive technology. When activated, it generated subspace interference that caused Wraith ships entering hyperspace to suffer catastrophic engine failure and destruction. This episode examines why a weapon capable of winning the war was shut down by the Lanteans themselves. The same interference destabilized active Stargates, causing them to overload and explode with enough force to devastate surrounding populations. Destroying Wraith fleets therefore required making the gate network unusable at the cost of countless human worlds.
