Michael’s final assault on Atlantis brought his hybrid war directly into the city he blamed for creating him. Using a stolen Puddle Jumper and knowledge gained through earlier encounters, his forces penetrated Atlantis, seized critical areas, and isolated personnel before the expedition could organize a full defense. This episode examines the assault as both a strategic raid and an act of personal revenge. Michael sought Teyla’s son Torren, whose genetic inheritance remained valuable to his plans for a stable hybrid population. He used hostages, internal systems, and hybrid soldiers to offset Atlantis’s superior defensive technology, while Sheppard’s team fought through the city to regain control. The confrontation ended high above the city when Teyla battled Michael and sent him falling from a tower. His death closed the campaign of the warlord created by the retrovirus experiment. The Prodigal demonstrated that Atlantis’s greatest biological mistake had learned enough about the city to threaten it from within.
