Korolev entered service as Russia’s first BC-304 and was sent almost immediately into the largest space battle Earth had yet fought. At P3Y-229, the battlecruiser joined Odyssey and allied ships confronting four Ori motherships emerging from the Supergate. This episode examines Korolev’s brief combat career, the multinational politics behind its deployment, and the tactical disaster that followed. The ship launched F-302s and engaged at close range, but its shields could not withstand the Ori’s main weapons. A direct strike destroyed the vessel and killed Colonel Chekov along with most of the crew. Cameron Mitchell survived in a fighter, while Daniel Jackson was transported aboard an Ori ship during the chaos. Korolev’s loss demonstrated that Earth’s newest battlecruiser class was not automatically superior to every alien opponent. Years of technological progress had produced a capable fleet, but the Ori could still erase a national flagship before its crew found an effective response.
