The Replicator offensive shattered the Goa’uld empire faster than centuries of rebellion and rivalry had managed. Led by the human-form Replicator Carter, machine forces attacked System Lord worlds, infested Ha’taks, absorbed weapons technology, and converted captured material into expanding armies. This episode examines the crisis known as “Reckoning,” when rulers who had claimed immortality abandoned domains they could no longer defend. Conventional energy weapons were ineffective, fleets became raw material for the enemy, and the political structure of the empire collapsed as communications and command networks failed. Ba’al, still serving Anubis while pursuing his own survival, covertly cooperated with Stargate Command and the Free Jaffa to locate a weapon on Dakara. The Replicators did not liberate conquered populations; they threatened to consume them along with their rulers. Yet their assault destroyed the military balance that had sustained the System Lords for thousands of years. By the time the machines reached Dakara, the old Goa’uld order was already breaking apart.
