The Second Battle of Abydos

Abydos became a battlefield again when Anubis attacked the world in search of the Eye of Ra. For SG-1, the mission was a return to the place where Earth’s modern off-world history began and where Daniel Jackson had once built a life. This episode reconstructs the defense of Abydos, the resistance led by Skaara and his people, and Daniel’s intervention after ascension. Anubis’s forces possessed overwhelming orbital power, while SG-1 searched the pyramid complex for an artifact that might keep a larger weapons system out of his hands. Daniel attempted to confront Anubis directly, but the rules governing ascended beings prevented him from acting without consequence. After obtaining the Eye, Anubis used his enhanced mothership to destroy Abydos from orbit. The apparent annihilation was later revealed to contain one final act of protection when Oma Desala helped the Abydonians ascend.
