HOW HALO FIGHTS

Electronic Warfare, Hacking, and Captured Technology

S08E22

Not every battle requires physically destroying the enemy’s equipment. Sometimes the better option is to blind it, jam it, steal it, rewrite it, or turn it against its owner. This episode examines electronic warfare and cyber operations across Halo, from sensor interference and communications disruption to artificial intelligences infiltrating hostile networks. Cortana repeatedly demonstrates how a capable AI can extract Covenant information, manipulate systems, and transform captured technology into an intelligence advantage. UNSC forces recover enemy weapons, vehicles, navigation data, and Forerunner artifacts because understanding how the opponent fights can matter as much as destroying what they brought to the battlefield. Captured technology carries risk. Hidden controls, incompatible systems, malicious software, or incomplete understanding can turn an apparent advantage into a vulnerability, as humanity repeatedly discovers with alien hardware. Electronic warfare is ultimately a contest over access and trust. A commander must know which sensor to believe, which network remains secure, and whether the machine suddenly obeying human orders has truly changed sides.
