The Battle of Sunaion and the Fall of Jul ’Mdama

Jul ’Mdama’s death and the Battle of Sunaion mark the collapse of the most powerful Covenant remnant opposing the Arbiter on Sanghelios. Jul himself is killed earlier on Kamchatka during Fireteam Osiris’s operation to recover Catherine Halsey, depriving his organization of the leader who had held its religious and military factions together. This episode examines what follows as the Swords of Sanghelios prepare an assault on Sunaion, the remnant’s major coastal stronghold. Fireteam Osiris joins the Arbiter’s forces while Covenant defenders fight from fortified positions across the city. The attack becomes more urgent when a Guardian begins awakening beneath Sunaion, linking the Sangheili civil war to the larger crisis involving Cortana. The Swords break the enemy position and secure a defining victory in the Blooding Years. Jul’s Covenant does not disappear instantly, but without Jul and Sunaion its claim to represent a restored Covenant has suffered a decisive military and political defeat.
