The colony of Sedra becomes the target of a terrorist attack using a biological weapon designed to kill humans while leaving other species largely unharmed. ONI agent Jameson Locke joins Sedran Colonial Guard personnel in tracing the material used in the attack to an extraordinary source: a surviving fragment of Installation 04. This episode examines the expedition depicted in *Nightfall* and the military problem of operating on a piece of the Halo ring destroyed by the Pillar of Autumn. The mission places intelligence officers and colonial soldiers in an environment saturated with lethal radiation and inhabited by dangerous Lekgolo forms. Limited protection means only a small number of personnel can survive long enough to complete the operation, transforming cooperation into competition as extraction becomes increasingly uncertain. The investigation shows how the wreckage of ancient battles continues creating new weapons years afterward. Alpha Halo was destroyed in 2552, but pieces of the installation remain strategically valuable—and deadly—to anyone willing to recover them.
