The Blooding Years: Civil War on Sanghelios

The Covenant’s collapse leaves Sanghelios without the imperial institutions that had organized its politics, economy, military service, and religion for thousands of years. The result is the Blooding Years, a civil conflict fought among keeps, religious factions, political reformers, and former Covenant warriors attempting to define what Sangheili society should become. This episode examines Thel ’Vadam’s struggle to preserve the Swords of Sanghelios against the Servants of the Abiding Truth and other opponents who reject his alliance with humanity. Fighting spreads from local keeps to major cities and space battles, while old clan rivalries mix with arguments over the Forerunners and the Great Journey. ONI covertly worsens the instability in hopes of keeping the Sangheili too divided to threaten Earth. The Blooding Years demonstrate that destroying an empire does not automatically create peace. It removes the authority that once contained older disputes and forces every surviving faction to answer who has the right to build what comes next.
