The Endless and the Skimmers: The Secret the Forerunners Imprisoned

The Endless, or Xalanyn, became a threat to the Forerunners because they survived the firing of the Halo Array. Discovered after the galaxy had been sterilized and reseeded, they possessed unknown capabilities, refused to provide answers the surviving Forerunners considered satisfactory, and were imprisoned within Zeta Halo for containment and study. This episode examines what is established—and what remains deliberately uncertain—about the species. The Harbinger allied with the Banished to repair the ring and open the way for her people’s return, describing their confinement as an injustice hidden beneath Forerunner history. Skimmers fought beside her and the Banished, and their morphology suggests a relationship to the Xalanyn, but the exact nature of that connection remains unclear.
