The Keepers of the One Freedom: When Covenant Faith Survived the Covenant

The Keepers of the One Freedom preserved the Covenant’s central promise after the empire that preached it had collapsed. Led by the Jiralhanae dokab Castor, the faction continued to believe that activating Halo would begin the Great Journey and carry the faithful into transcendence. This episode examines a movement that combined Brute pack leadership with genuine religious devotion, attracting believers who regarded the Covenant’s defeat as failure by corrupt leaders rather than proof that the faith was false. The Keepers sometimes cooperated with larger powers, including the Banished, but their loyalty to Atriox was always secondary to Castor’s sacred objective. ONI’s Ferret team infiltrated the group as it pursued the portal to the Ark and the means to fire the rings. That campaign brought the Keepers into conflict with both enemies and supposed allies who had no intention of allowing galactic extinction.
