The five Clan castes divide nearly every essential function of civilization. Warriors command and govern, scientists oversee research and genetics, merchants manage production and transportation, technicians maintain machinery and infrastructure, and laborers provide much of the physical work that keeps settlements alive. This episode examines what each caste actually contributes and why formal status does not always reflect practical importance. Clan merchants can coordinate interstellar supply systems essential to military operations, while technicians determine whether advanced OmniMechs and WarShips remain functional. Laborers form the largest population and sustain agriculture, mining, construction, and industry despite having the least political influence. Different Clans modify the hierarchy in significant ways: Sea Fox grants merchants unusual authority, Ghost Bear places greater value on community, and Goliath Scorpion eventually created additional castes to administer its expanding empire. The caste structure provides specialization and stability, but it also ensures that responsibility and political power are distributed very differently.
